Tip of the Month

Moving your feet

I'm sure most of you have noticed that the lane conditions are different depending on what day and time you come down to bowl.  Most bowling centers clean and condition the lanes on a consistent and regular basis.  However, this does not mean that the lanes are going to be the same all the time.  The amount of bowling on each lane will change the condition, the temperature inside and outside the bowling center will also change the condition on the lanes.  Here are a few things to remember when dealing with these ever-changing conditions.  When you come down to practice or bowl leagues start by placing your feet on the center dot and aiming your target around the first or second arrow.  If the ball comes up high on the head pin move your feet 2-3 boards to the left.  If your ball comes up light on the 1-3 pocket move your feet 2-3 boards to the right.  The key here is to remember to always move your feet in the direction that your ball misses the pocket.  Always make sure you are doing everything correctly before you move your feet or your target.  For every one board you move your feet on the approach it will make a 2 to 3 board difference at the back end of the lane.  So remember, if the ball goes left move your feet to the left, if the ball goes right move your feet to the right.

Have a great season and keep your eyes open for our Skill Center Bowling Clinics!
